The uncomplicated answer is, usually around 4 months. If you shower sparingly or your municipal water supply has lower chlorine counts, the filters will last longer. If there's high chlorine in the supply water or many people use the same shower, could be less than 4 months.
Shower filters cannot significantly reduce water hardness. Any claiming otherwise are misleading. Hardness comes from dissolved calcium and magnesium, which only an ion-exchange water softening system can remove. Don’t be fooled by false claims.
